We consider the best interest of the breed when engaged in any activities involving breeding, selling and exhibiting Maltese. We refrain from any activities which would prove to be detrimental to the breed.
We abide by the following:
1.We do not engage in the wholesaling of litters or individual Maltese or the selling of breeding stock to such places as pet dealers, catalog houses, or other commercial sources of distribution.
2. We do not mixbreed.
3. We do not offer stud service to unregistered bitches, or breed bitches to unregistered dogs.
4. All sales will be accompanied with written contracts.
5. Puppies will not be sold at less than 10 weeks of age.
6. The best possible standard of health and care in all dogs will be maintained and puppies will have age appropriate immunizations and de-worming.
7. In our breeding program, we will keep alert for and work to control and/or eradicate inherited problems and conditions that are particular to the breed and breed as closely as possible to the standard.
8. We will represent our dogs as honestly as possible to prospective buyers and to try to assist the serious novice in his/her understanding of the breed.
9. We are obligated to protect the interests of the breed and the sport of dog show competition in general, by conducting ourselves in a good-sportsmanship manner to reflect credit on ourself, the breed and on other participants in dog shows generally.
10. We are responsible for all puppies we produce for the life of the puppy, this means, puppies must be returned to us should the owners find themselves in a situation they can no longer keep the puppy.
11. We promote and encourage the spaying/neutering of pet quality dogs in all breeds as well as the Maltese and use a Non-breeding, spay/neuter contract on our puppies placed in PET homes.
Our puppies are raised in our living room and/or family room for optimum socialization to the sights and sounds of daily living.
In a sincere effort to ensure the future happiness of each individual puppy we sell, we carefully screen potential buyers. We apologize in advance to all potential buyers who might consider this rude on our part - that is truly not our intent. We love our dogs very much; we shed tears on the day our puppies leave for their new homes. It is very, very important to us that each puppy is promised a future of unconditional love and care in an excellent home.
There are some situations that we believe a Maltese may not be the right choice of breed for you and/or your family. In addition, in some situations we may refuse to sell you a puppy. Please do not take offense to this as it is for the protection of our puppies and should not be taken personally. Here is a HELPFUL SITE to assist you in the decision of what breed may be right for you, your family and your lifestyle.
General
- We do not sell puppies through this website.
- Meeting you in person is our preference.
- We do not ship puppies: Accompanying them in the cabin with a specially designed carry-on bag (the Sherpa) is agreeable.
- Maltese have a beautifully elegant coat, but it does require specialized grooming ; we prefer to sell puppies to people who are willing to take the puppy/dog to be professional groomed on a regular basis, so please consider this if you want a Diamond River Maltese.
- We are most sympathetic to those who have recently lost their Maltese, however, keep in mind that if this has happened to you, you have become used to a relatively sedentary adult dog and may have forgotten how much energy a Maltese pup has and how much attention it requires. Think about whether this is what you can cope with - an older dog might be more appropriate in some situations.
Waiting for your puppy
We know exactly how difficult the waiting process can be for expectant "parents". Therefore, we do our best to keep you up to date and informed on the progression of both the dam's pregnancy as well as the first 12+ weeks of your puppy's life, emails with pictures are sent as available. We are also always willing to answer emails and phone calls about the puppy’s progress.
Prearranged appointments for Puppy visits are fine after the pups are 6-7 weeks, of age. You will be asked not allowing the puppy/s to lick or chew on your fingers.
We ask that you use this time to prepare for the puppies homecoming.
We provide our puppy buyers with support throughout the life of your dog. We consider you part of our family and are always available for any questions, concerns, problems or other issues that may arise with your puppy. If we do not have an answer to one of your questions, we will find one from our network of experienced breeders, trainers and veterinarians.
We try to keep in touch with all of our puppy owners; however, our life is filled with Dog Showing, grooming, raising puppies, caring for the adults, plus life in general. We do want to hear from you! We ask for updates on your puppy, we love to hear about how they are progressing! Photos are welcomed and if they are of good quality, you may be asked if your puppy can star on our webpages!
Please keep us informed of any accomplishments and/or titles your dog may receive in obedience trials, agility, CGC, CGN or therapy certificates. We are proud of our puppies and do not lose our interest in them just because they have left our home.
Also remember, if we do not hear from you, we can not assist you should an issue or concern arise?
